Who are the Teen Ambassadors?

Teen Ambassadors are the executive board for Reality Illinois, offering DuPage County high school students the opportunity to dive deeper and develop their leadership, advocacy, and local policy skills. Open to all Reality Illinois participants, Teen Ambassadors take an active role in shaping the teen substance use and mental health initiatives that will promote positive change in their communities throughout the school year.


What are the Responsibilities of a Teen Ambassador?

  • Attend a 60-minute virtual planning meeting once a month
  • Arrive 15 minutes before AND attend monthly in-person Reality meetings
  • Work with elected officials to support prevention policies
  • Engage in panel discussions with community partners
  • Share mental health and substance use resources with peers
  • Lead Reality projects throughout the school year
  • Collaborate with Reality and other existing school clubs to implement prevention campaigns and initiatives
  • Provide feedback on mass media campaigns geared towards teens


Time Commitment 

The program runs from September through April. Time commitment varies based on monthly events, but generally averages between 3-4 hours per month.

Applications are now closed and will reopen in the Spring.
